Introduction
Here is an opportunity to have your own aircraft without the huge costs and responsibility associated with owning one. You will have available to you at any time, two aircraft that are well maintained and well presented, which you can fly secure in the knowledge that the person who flew it before you had operated it with the same care and attention as you would have yourself. You will be proud to take your friends and family on trips in aircraft that not only have been well cared for but also present that way.

You will also get involved with a really good bunch of people who have the same interests and social outlook as yourself.

EFC Profile
The Eagle Flying Club is a non-profit club incorporated under legislation of the State of Queensland, Australia, and is based in Brisbane. The club, and its predecessor, Eagle Farm Aircraft Hire, has been operating for over 26 years - having originally been based at Brisbane's Eagle Farm International Airport. The move to Brisbane's light aircraft airport, Archerfield, was made when the new Brisbane Airport was opened in the middle 80's and movement fees there became too onerous.

The club currently owns two aircraft:

  • Piper Arrow II four seater aircraft with retractable undercarriage and three blade constant speed propeller with a 200HP 4 cylinder engine.
  • Piper Arrow 111 four seater aircraft with retractable undercarriage, 2 blade propeller and a 200HP turbo charged 6 cylinder engine.

and also has access to other aircraft.

Both of the above mentioned aircraft are stored in hangers at Archerfield Airport and are available for hire to club members or their nominated pilots (see below) or for non-members through Sunland Aviation or Gil Layts Flying School who are also based at Archerfield. Both aircraft are registered in the IFR category and are fully insured for private use and advanced pilot training. See our Club Aircraft page for more aircraft details.

All members are required to purchase Debentures in the club, and to pay an annual subscription (in 4 quarterly payments) to cover fixed costs. See our Club Fees page for more details.

In order to act as Pilot In Command of the club's aircraft, members must hold at least a current PPL without area restrictions, hold any endorsements required for the club aircraft, meet all medical and flying currency requirements, and meet or exceed the club's flying experience and ability standards. New members flying skills are either assessed by the club's Flight Captain, or by any qualified flying instructor approved by the Flight Captain and/or the Committee.

Members may sign over their flying rights to the club aircraft to another nominated pilot, who is required to at least be a club social member. The nominated pilot, however, must meet all of the above criteria that would apply to a full member, and the member nominating the pilot will lose the right to fly the club aircraft for the duration of the nomination.   In practice, the nominated pilot usually pays the club annual fixed fee and any hire charges in lieu of the member who has nominated him/her, however, the member remains liable for this payment in the event of default by the nominated pilot.
The club members meet socially periodically and receive club information when required. Club Office Holders are elected annually in November.
A culture of fellowship, with an emphasis on safe and conservative airmanship, is actively fostered.
